ACHING HEART
My heart is heavy and aching
Every time I see and hear how badly
People are treated by others.
My heart is heavy and aching
Every time I see justice not being served,
And basic human rights denied.
My heart is heavy and aching
When I see people living in poverty,
Or being blamed by others for their fate.
My heart is heavy and aching
If I am silent about things dear to me,
Or being silenced by others.
My heart is heavy and aching
If I’m not doing my part – however great or small –
To lighten the burden of injustices.
