TIME'S FULFILLMENT
I am looking forward to a life
Without anxiety and
Constant subtle scrutiny.
How do you think it feels
To be measured and judged daily,
On the basis of how to dress and look?
Each word said
-placed-
On a scale and compared.
How do you think it feels
To matter not as a person
With feelings and caring dreams?
Superficial appearances overshadow
Any common human values.
Do intellect, honesty, and integrity
Not matter anymore?
Am I not a human being
With an intellect and a vision
To create?
If my intellect does
Not matter to you,
Why should yours
Matter to me?
The rule of give and take,
Applied in a healthy exchange,
Nourishes everything.
I gave you far too much credit
Than you deserved.
Now, I take back what
Has always belonged to me.
My life, my self-reliance, my pride
In things accomplished.
Time creates fulfillment,
And I’m part of it.
